Eliassen Group in Richmond, VA is seeking a Database Security Engineer to manage, optimize, and expand the Imperva Database Activity Monitoring platform. The role focuses on monitoring and governance across enterprise databases, collaborating with DBAs and identity stakeholders to enforce policy alignment.

You will automate routine tasks, handle vendor interactions, and ensure 100% monitoring coverage while adhering to change control in a highly audited environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Imperva DAM (SecureSphere) administration and troubleshooting.
• Experience with SQL Server, IBM DB2, Oracle, and Teradata.
• Scripting ability in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or REST APIs.
• Vendor/incident management experience.
• Knowledge of auditing, baseline governance, policy drift resolution, and change control.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations, troubleshooting, configuration, and maintenance of the Imperva DAM environment.
• Serve as primary technical contact for vendor escalations and support tickets.
• Reconcile database inventories with DAM coverage for MSSQL, DB2, Oracle, and Teradata to ensure no blind spots.
• Monitor platform telemetry to detect health anomalies, agent outages, or logging drops and restore continuous recording.
• Review and remediate policy drift to align with enterprise security standards and best practices.
• Automate health checks, monitoring verification, reporting, and routine operational workflows using scripts or APIs.
• Ensure uniform policy application across all databases and environments.
• Leverage and oversee offshore resources to execute approved operational changes.
• Follow established change management processes and approvals in a highly audited environment.
• Analyze collected logs to identify anomalies and support incident response.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity and IAM stakeholders and engage with SME support.
• Drive toward 100% monitoring coverage and consistent policy governance.

Our client seeks a Database Security Engineer to manage, optimize, and expand the Imperva Database Activity Monitoring platform. The contractor will ensure comprehensive monitoring coverage across enterprise databases, automate routine operational tasks, and refine security baselines. The role will partner with DBAs and identity stakeholders, enforce policy alignment, and support vendor interactions. This position will focus on monitoring and governance rather than traditional database administration.

Rate: $55.00 to $65.00/hr. w2

Experience Requirements:

• Hands-on administration, engineering, and troubleshooting experience with Imperva DAM (SecureSphere).
• Background as a database administrator or engineer with strong knowledge of database architectures, system catalogs, and auditing.
• Experience across Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, Oracle, and Teradata.
• Scripting capability with Python, PowerShell, Bash, or use of REST APIs for automation.
• Experience in vendor and incident management for complex platform issues, upgrades, and bug fixes.
• Familiarity with database auditing principles, baseline governance, policy drift resolution, and anomaly detection.Ability to operate within strict change control and compliance requirements.
