Akkodis is seeking a Database Security Engineer to own Imperva DAM, ensure 100% monitoring across critical databases, and automate routine tasks. The role requires hands-on experience with Imperva DAM/SecureSphere and deep database expertise across MSSQL, DB2, Oracle, and Teradata.

Role: Database Security Engineer

Contract 12 months with Possible extension

Pay range: $60-$65\\hr (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors)

Hybrid 3 days onsite a week

Systems Engineer - Sr, the actual need is a Database Security Engineer with hands-on Imperva DAM/SecureSphere experience and a strong database administration background.

The objective is to maintain complete monitoring coverage across the in-scope critical databases, resolve interruptions in activity recording, strengthen security policies, and automate routine operational work. We need candidates who can demonstrate personal ownership, sound troubleshooting, and measurable results.

What we need to find

1. Direct ownership of Imperva DAM.

Confirm the exact product and what the candidate personally configured, maintained, and troubleshot. An Imperva keyword or WAF-only background does not establish the database-monitoring experience required here. We need someone who has worked inside the platform and taken responsibility for its operation.

2. Strong database knowledge.

The JD names SQL Server, DB2, Oracle, and Teradata, including architecture, querying, logging mechanisms, and system catalogs. Capture hands-on depth and recency for each. We still need confirmation of the required depth across all four; do not assume a missing platform is acceptable.

The key is whether candidates understand databases well enough to investigate missing activity, identify monitoring gaps, and work effectively with platform DBAs.

3. Monitoring coverage and troubleshooting experience.

Look for examples of reconciling database inventories against DAM coverage, identifying unmonitored assets, and resolving agent outages or logging drops. A database appearing in the platform does not automatically prove its activity is being recorded.

Candidates should explain a specific failure, their diagnostic steps, what they changed, and how they confirmed monitoring was restored.

4. Practical automation.

Ask about a health check, monitoring-verification process, report, or operational workflow they personally automated. Establish what it checked, how it handled failures, and what improved. Python, PowerShell, Bash, and REST APIs are examples in the JD, not four separately required skills.

5. Security judgment and follow-through.

Obtain examples of identifying policy drift or weaknesses in security baselines, recommending adjustments, and validating the results. Also establish whether candidates have driven complex vendor escalations, upgrades, or bug fixes through resolution.

Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Database Security Engineer with a strong database administration background to manage, optimize, and expand our enterprise Imperva Database Activity Monitoring (DAM) platform. This contractor will ensure 100% monitoring coverage across critical database environments, automate routine operational tasks and refine security baselines.

Key Responsibilities

Imperva Platform Management & Support: Manage daily operations, troubleshooting, configuration, and maintenance of the Imperva DAM environment. Serve as the primary technical point of contact for vendor escalations and support tickets.

Scope Assurance & Inventory Auditing: Partner closely with platform DBAs to continuously reconcile database inventories against DAM coverage, ensuring all target assets across MSSQL, DB2, Oracle, and Teradata are actively monitored without blind spots.

Operational Health & Anomaly Detection: Monitor platform telemetry to detect health anomalies, agent outages, or logging drops. Ensure continuous, active activity recording across all targeted databases.

Policy Optimization & Security Baseline Governance: Apply a strong cybersecurity mindset to review policy drift, evaluate security baselines, and recommend actionable rule adjustments to align with enterprise security standards and industry best practices.

Automation & Efficiency: Script and automate daily health checks, monitoring verification, reporting, and operational task workflows to streamline routine platform maintenance.

Required Qualifications & Technical Skills

Imperva DAM Expertise: Direct, hands‑on administration, engineering, and troubleshooting experience with Imperva DAM (SecureSphere).

Strong Database Background: Deep foundational knowledge of database architectures, querying, logging mechanisms, and system catalogs across multiple enterprise platforms:

Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL)

IBM DB2

Oracle

Automation & Scripting: Demonstrated capability to automate operational tasks using scripts (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash, or REST APIs).

Vendor & Incident Management: Proven experience working with vendors for technical support to resolve complex platform issues, upgrades, and bug fixes.

Database Security Mindset: Familiarity with database auditing principles, baseline governance, policy drift resolution, and threat/anomaly detection.
