Job Description

Our SWAT (Software Action Team) ensures the stability of our production databases. Our Database Engineers are experts in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, and analyzing query execution plans for Postgres/MySQL/MariaDB, to ensure the production stability of our infrastructure and platforms.

The ideal candidate for this position is a Database Engineer with a strong foundation in database technologies, performance analysis, and troubleshooting skills. The candidate must have a passion for resolving issues in complex systems under dynamic, real-world loads. You will work in a fast-paced, innovative environment that allows direct influence on the organization and our customers. In this role, you will support the infrastructure by learning the platform from end to end.

• Develop automation tools to facilitate and improve day-to-day operations
• Become an SME in production triage, gaining broad knowledge across ServiceNow's application and codebase, working with all groups within Engineering/Operations, and outside groups such as Customer Support
• Learn to identify bugs and solve challenging performance issues quickly. SWAT offers an excellent opportunity to learn and grow as a problem and performance analyst

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you have:

• 0-2+ years of database performance tuning experience on PostgreSQL / MySQL / MariaDB
• 0-2+ years supporting or testing large-scale web-based distributed applications
• 0-2+ years hands-on experience working on SaaS, PaaS, or Cloud Infrastructure products/solutions
• Unix skills: development, navigation, file manipulation, permissions, searching files and text contents, administrative actions
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with an aptitude for learning new technologies
• Eagerness to learn about the ServiceNow Platform

For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $106,600 - $165,300, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation, and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive OTE incentive structure. The base pay is a guideline; total compensation varies based on qualifications, skills, and location. We also provide health plans, flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) with company match, ESPP, matching donations, flexible time off, and family leave programs.
