Job summary

Byte Systems, a subsidiary of VTG, is seeking a Principal/Senior Principal Database Engineer to support data management within Production Operations. You will engage in database engineering, management, deployment, tuning, and enhancement of large-scale systems.

The role requires DoD IAT Level II certification, active TS/SCI with poly eligibility, and is 100% on-site. Relevant experience with PostgreSQL, SQL, AWS, Elasticsearch, and Linux is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience for Principal level
• 9+ years of relevant experience for Senior Principal level
• Master's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience or PhD with 4+ years
• PhD with no experience may be considered
• Active TS/SCI with ability to obtain a poly
• This position is 100% on site

Overview Byte Systems, a subsidiary of VTG, is seeking a Principal/Senior Principal Database Engineer. The selected candidate will work within a Production Operations team supporting data management processes, database engineering and management, deploying, maintaining, tuning, and enhancing database systems. What will you do? Job Duties:

• Database engineering and management activities associated with high volume, multi-format data management services
• Maintains large-scale data management solutions including developing efficient storage, indexing, and access approaches
• Updates data enterprise architecture models (if needed) and data abstraction layer to enable access to new data sources
• Designs and implements indexing strategies for ingested data.
• Developing a strategy for continuous performance tuning of databases Basic Qualifications:
• Experience with Postgres, SQL, and database performance tuning
• Experience installing application software in an operational environment
• Experience with Agile, AWS, RDBMS technology, Elasticsearch, Linux
• DoD IAT Level II certification
• This position is 100% on site
• Active TS/SCI with ability to obtain a poly Preferred with NoSQL technology (Hadoop and/or EMR)
• Familiarity with Graph database technology
• Data modeling experience Do you have what it takes? For Principal Level: Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience OR A PhD with no experience; an additional 4 years of experience maybe considered in lieu of a degree requirement. For Senior Principal Level: Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience OR A PhD with 4+ years of relevant experience; an additional 4 years of experience maybe considered in lieu of a degree requirement. Pay Range: VTG's estimated starting pay range is $180,000-$230,000 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
