Byte Systems, a VTG subsidiary, is seeking a Principal/Senior Principal Database Engineer to support a Production Operations team responsible for data management, database engineering, deployment, tuning and enhancement of database systems. The role is 100% on site.

Ideal candidates have extensive PostgreSQL/SQL experience, RDBMS, AWS, Elasticsearch and Linux skills, plus DoD IAT II certification and TS/SCI with poly eligibility. Pay ranges align with seniority and location.

What will you do?

Job Duties

• Database engineering and management activities associated with high volume, multi-format data management services
• Maintains large-scale data management solutions including developing efficient storage, indexing, and access approaches
• Updates data enterprise architecture models (if needed) and data abstraction layer to enable access to new data sources
• Designs and implements indexing strategies for ingested data.
• Developing a strategy for continuous performance tuning of databases

Basic Qualifications

• Experience with Postgres, SQL, and database performance tuning
• Experience installing application software in an operational environment
• Experience with Agile, AWS, RDBMS technology, Elasticsearch, Linux
• DoD IAT Level II certification

Preferred With NoSQL Technology (Hadoop And/or EMR)

• Familiarity with Graph database technology
• Data modeling experience

For Principal Level

Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience OR A PhD with no experience; an additional 4 years of experience maybe considered in lieu of a degree requirement.

For Senior Principal Level

Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience OR A PhD with 4+ years of relevant experience; an additional 4 years of experience maybe considered in lieu of a degree requirement.

Pay Range

VTG's estimated starting pay range is $180,000-$230,000 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
