Job summary

Lockheed Martin in the Rotary Mission Systems Cyber & Intelligence sector seeks a Junior Database Engineer to help design, develop and optimize database systems. You will work on relational and non-relational databases, data modeling, and cloud storage strategies.

The role involves translating requirements into practical data solutions, writing ad hoc queries, and supporting IOC testing and deployment within a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Qualifications

THE WORK

As a Database Engineer – Junior-Level you will be responsible for:

  • Provides technical expertise for database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis
  • Develops relational and/or Object-Oriented databases, database parser software, and database loading software
  • Projects long-range requirements for database administration and design
  • Responsible for developing a database structure that fits into the overall architecture of the system under development and has to make trades among data volumes, number of users, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention rules, security and domain controls.
  • The DBE works primarily at the front end of the lifecycle-requirements through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC)
  • Develops requirements from a project’s inception to its conclusion for a particular business and Information Technology (IT) subject matter area (i.e., simple to complex systems)
  • Assist with recommendations for, and analysis and evaluation of systems improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts
  • Translates a set of requirements and data into a usable document by creating or recreating ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros; updates existing queries, creates new ones to manipulate data into a master file; and builds complex systems using queries, tables, Open Database Connectivity and database storage and retrieval using Cloud methodologies

Designs, develops, builds, analyzes, evaluates and installs database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration management. Uses data mapping, data mining and data transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases. Determines data storage and optimum storage requirements. Prepares system requirements, source analysis and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases to include but not limited to Oracle, Postgres, Mongo and Redis. Experience with SQL and the associated tools (SQL Developer, etc…)

Support the development of long and short-term requirements for database administration and design

DESIRED SKILLS

Experience with Elasticsearch

PAY INFORMATION

Full-Time Salary Range: $79300.00 - $147300.00

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
