Job summary

Bcore is seeking a highly experienced Database Engineer in Warrenton/Tysons, VA for TS/SCI with Poly clearance. The role requires hands-on expertise across Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud platforms, with strong design, HA/DR, security, and CI/CD for databases.

You will collaborate with infrastructure, application, security, and data teams to modernize and optimize mission-critical data systems, migrate on-prem to cloud/hybrid environments, and deliver resilient, compliant

Qualifications

• Hands-on engineering experience with relational databases (on-prem and cloud)
• Experience with HA/DR architectures and security/compliance
• Strong skills in performance tuning, backup/recovery, and data migration to cloud
• Proven ability to design and implement database systems in hybrid environments
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for database deployments

We are seeking a highly experienced Database Engineer with demonstrated expertise in relational database technologies across both on-premises and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will possess deep hands‑on technical knowledge, strong engineering design, and the ability to collaborate effectively across infrastructure, application, security, and data teams. This role requires advanced engineering expertise, documentation proficiency, design leadership, and cross-functional communication skills to support modernization, transformation, and operational excellence initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must demonstrate hands‑on engineering expertise in the following relational database technologies (on‑prem and cloud)

Relational Database Platforms

• Microsoft SQL Server

• Performance tuning and query optimization

• Migration from on‑prem to cloud and hybrid environments
• Linux and Windows server environments
• Scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
• CI/CD integration for database deployments

Desired Qualifications

• Database containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Database monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Redgate, OEM, Cloud‑native monitoring)
• Data replication and distributed systems
• Data warehouse platforms (Snowflake, Redshift, Azure Synapse)
• ETL frameworks and tools
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation)
• Massively Parallel Processing database administration experience (MPP DBA)
• Ansible (or similar IT automation tools like Puppet or Chef)
• Supporting federal government compliance frameworks
• Knowledge of Zero Trust architectures
• Supporting mission‑critical or high‑transaction environments
• The expected salary range within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is $200,000 - 225,000. Final compensation is unique to each individual and will be determined based on factors such as experience, education, geographic location, and contractual requirements. This is not a guarantee.
