Job summary

Expert Technology Services in Foster City, CA is seeking a Database Engineer/DBA to design, implement, and optimize cloud-based database solutions using AWS and Infrastructure as Code.

You will work with PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, and Redshift; write efficient SQL, perform query optimization, data modeling, backups, DR, and enforce security best practices while collaborating in a fast-paced team.

Qualifications

Job description

Job Summary (List Format):

• - Strong understanding of AWS and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for database resources
• - Proven experience as a Database Engineer or Database Administrator (DBA)
• - Deep knowledge of various Database Management Systems (DBMS) such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, and Redshift
• - Proficient in SQL and experienced in query optimization
• - Solid grasp of data modeling, normalization, and schema design principles
• - Hands-on experience with database performance tuning and monitoring
• - Familiarity with backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures
• - Knowledge of database security best practices
• - Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills
• - Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Nice to Have:

• - Understanding of AWS networking fundamentals
• - Experience with Terraform Cloud and Infrastructure as Code workflows
• - Automation/scripting skills using Python or Shell
• - Experience with CI/CD for databases (e.g., Bamboo, Flyway, or similar tools)
