Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Architect scalable, high-performance, and secure database solutions.
  • Manage AWS DB operations, including EMR clusters and integration with Lambda, S3, EC2, and Glue.
  • Design backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions (Multi-AZ, read replicas).
  • Design, implement, and manage Snowflake data warehouses and write complex SQL queries.
  • Provide guidance to junior- and mid-level developers.

Target Salary Range*: $134,000 - $175,000

Position Overview

The Database Architect will architect, implement, manage, and optimize scalable, high-performance, and secure database solutions using AWS database and data processing services and Snowflake. The role includes database administration, SQL development, automation and scripting, security and compliance, troubleshooting, and support for other developers.

Key Responsibilities
AWS Database Architecture and Operations
  • Utilize AWS database and data processing services, including Amazon RDS, AuroraDB, DynamoDB, Redshift, ElastiCache, EMR, and Neptune.
  • Architect scalable, high-performance, and secure database solutions.
  • Configure, launch, and manage EMR clusters, optimizing for performance and cost and integrating with various data sources.
  • Integrate databases with AWS services such as Lambda, S3, EC2, and Glue.
  • Troubleshoot AWS-related issues and incidents.
Security, Compliance, and Availability
  • Apply AWS security best practices, including IAM, encryption, VPC, and security groups, and comply with data storage requirements.
  • Design backup, disaster recovery, high availability, and failover solutions, including Multi-AZ and read replicas.
  • Ensure compliance with SSA security, privacy, and data management policies.
Snowflake and SQL
  • Design, implement, and manage virtual data warehouses in Snowflake.
  • Write complex SQL queries for data analysis, transformation, and reporting.
  • Optimize queries, manage caching and clustering, and leverage auto-scaling to handle workloads.
Communication and Support
  • Brief management, customers, teams, and vendors using written and oral communication appropriate to the audience's technical level.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior- and mid-level developers.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field. A master's or doctorate degree may substitute for required experience. [Required]
Experience
  • 7+ years of experience as a Database Architect. [Required]
  • Experience with AWS database and data processing services, including Amazon RDS, AuroraDB, DynamoDB, Redshift, ElastiCache, EMR, and Neptune. [Required]
