Overview

GovCIO is seeking a Data Architect to lead a team of data professionals in support of Veterans Affairs, ensuring the full lifecycle of the Veteran experience is properly ingested, driving program and process improvements. This position will be fully remote within the United States.

Responsibilities

• Manage the organization's data infrastructure, including design, implementation, and maintenance of technical systems that store, process, and analyze data.
• Design the enterprise data management framework.
• Implement an organizational data strategy aligned with business processes, including data modeling, database standards, data warehouses, and analytics systems.
• Create frameworks to track data assets, their flow, usage, and integration.
• Implement data management processes such as ingestion, transformation, and storage to ensure quality, integrity, and availability.
• Collaborate with data engineers and stakeholders to maintain data quality and access controls.
• Construct data models illustrating relationships between data entities.
• Translate complex data concepts into understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders.
• Review architectural designs for soundness and compliance with standards.
• Ensure data quality and oversee data management tools and catalogs.
• Establish SOPs for data management based on industry best practices and agency requirements.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business, or related field; 15 years of relevant experience (additional experience can substitute for education).
• Relevant cloud certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) and Microsoft Certified: Azure Engineer Associate (DP-203).
• Experience implementing data strategies, including architecture design, data modeling, and data warehouse management.
• Ability to communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams in fast-paced environments.

Clearance Required

• Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.

Compensation

The posted salary range is USD $125,000 - $150,000 per year, with actual offers based on various factors. The total package may include additional elements discussed during hiring. The position is at-will, and salary may be modified at any time.
