Responsibilities

  • Application and Tool Development and Customer Support (40% FTE): design solutions using Microsoft Power Platform; build custom business apps; develop data collection tools; provide training and support.
  • Reporting and Documentation (20% FTE): generate dashboards and reports with Power BI; manage ongoing and ad hoc reporting; integrate data from multiple sources; document system changes.
  • Database Development and Maintenance (15% FTE): design and maintain SQL/Postgres databases; manage datasets for research; develop data protocols and ensure data quality.
  • Project Management (10% FTE): manage Quality Recognition and Professional Development projects; define scope and timelines; maintain documentation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Systems (FTE 10%): engage with partners; document needs; create diagrams and maps; communicate Cultivate Learning’s mission effectively.
  • SharePoint Development and Maintenance (5% FTE): design and maintain SharePoint sites and permissions.

Job DescriptionCultivate Learning has an outstanding opportunity for a temporary, Database and Software Developer to join their team.About this OpportunityReporting to the Data Applications and Systems Manager, the temporary Database and Software Developer will support the work of the Washington State Quality Recognition, Coaching and Professional Development Teams, and the Education Verification team. This work will be in collaboration with state and regional partners, including administrators, principal investigators, study coordinators, research staff, and data collection staff. This role is responsible for the design, planning, development, support and integration of all elements of comprehensive data warehouse, business intelligence and reporting platforms. This position will ensure that data warehouse performance is efficient and effective in support of the organization’s ongoing reporting and analytics requirements. Key elements to the success of this position include: planning and delivering new data integration and reporting functionality; working with stakeholders to gather specifications, documenting specifications based upon discrete use cases and developing new features in accordance with those specifications; testing and debugging new functionality based upon operational requirements; and, monitoring data flows between databases, servers and/or Cloud services to identify and implement the most suitable integration. Under the direction of the Data Applications and Systems Manager, the Database and Software Developer additional responsibilities will include ongoing evaluation, monitoring, coordination, and implementation of data management and database development tools and SharePoint sites.Key Responsibilities:The duties of the Database and Software Developer will include but are not limited to:Application and Tool Development and Customer Support (40% FTE )•Leverage a variety of programming languages and tools to design solutions to meet emergent system business needs with primary toolset being the Microsoft Power Platform.•Design and build custom business applications using Microsoft Power Platform tools.•Develop tools for data collection processes.•Design testing scenarios and debug new applications•Develop and deliver training for computer applications.•Provide customer support for applications through the ticketing system.Reporting and Documentation (20% FTE )•Complex report generation•Generate data dashboards, reports and analysis using Power BI•Oversee report generation both on-going and ad hoc reporting.•Access and integrate data from various data systems.•Thorough documentation of systems, including changes and business rules.Database Development and Maintenance (15% FTE )•Design and build new SQL/Postgres databases and maintain existing databases.•Oversight and management of datasets for research projects•Development of data storage and data protocols for research projects•Monitor data quality and ensure data integrity.Project Management (10% FTE )•Responsible for hands-on project management of various Quality Recognition and Professional Development team projects to define project scope by articulating stakeholders’ needs, formulating strategies, and developing proposals, including timelines and deliverables, and successful delivery of projects to stakeholders.•Track project requirements and ensure requirements are clear.•Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.•Other related duties as assigned.Stakeholder Engagement and Systems (FTE 10% )•Represent Cultivate Learning and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and partners.•Attending conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency.•Develop spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needs in collaboration with partners.•Speak to diverse audiences in a language and manner that connects with their interests while explaining in clear terms Cultivate Learning’s work and mission.•Develop a broad understanding of all Cultivate Learning and Early Achievers program data systems and guide the program and staff in streamlining systems.SharePoint Development and Maintenance (5% FTE)•Design, build, and maintain SharePoint Sites and Pages to meet team business needs.•Develop and manage SharePoint permission schema.Required QualificationsTo be considered for this opportunity your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications and additional qualifications listed below.
