Salary Range: $100,000 – $180,000 / year (dependent on experience, education, and skill set)
About the Role
Seeking an experienced Database Administrator to maintain the integrity, security, and availability of mission-critical database environments in Annapolis Junction, MD.
In this role, you will lead disaster recovery operations, performance tuning, indexing, and data monitoring while implementing robust security controls and compliance policies. You will perform lifecycle management across multiple relational and NoSQL database platforms, ensuring high availability, peak system performance, and efficient data architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain DISA Stig across multiple database platforms (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cassandra, and/or MongoDB).
- Perform vulnerability scanning, analyze findings, apply IAVA and Oracle CPU patches, and remediate security weaknesses.
- Support Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes, contribute to Authority to Operate (ATO) packages, conduct security readiness reviews, and maintain POA&M documentation.
- Partner with Information System Security Officers (ISSOs) to validate and report security compliance.
- Evaluate proposed change requests for cybersecurity risk impact and participate in oversight reviews.
- Manage database troubleshooting, issue resolution, backup, and full recovery actions.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain database scripts and PL/SQL/SQL routines for ad‑hoc requests and automated maintenance.
- Evaluate and recommend DBMS products and optimize data formatting for efficient storage and querying.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience as a Database Administrator.
- Oracle Expertise: At least 5 years of hands‑on Oracle Database Administration experience.
- Security & Patching: In‑depth experience applying database security controls, Oracle Critical Patch Updates (CPU), and IAVA patches.
- OS & Scripting: Strong understanding of Linux security relative to Oracle databases, along with hands‑on experience using procedural languages such as PL/SQL.
- Lifecycle Management: Proven experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and upgrading RDBMS software.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with 8+ years of related experience.
- Experience with high‑availability replication technologies (e.g., Oracle Data Guard, Oracle Streams, Oracle GoldenGate, Sybase Replication Server).
- Hands‑on experience with NoSQL or additional relational databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or working within Agile delivery teams.
- Strong background in end‑to‑end database design, modeling, and schema development.
