Job summary

IDR, Inc. in Minneapolis, MN seeks a Database Administrator II to support enterprise databases in a utilities-focused environment. You will manage Oracle and SQL Server across dev/test/prod, with additional PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB support as needed.

Expect backup, recovery, tuning, patching, and upgrades, plus cross-team collaboration. 5–7 years of hands-on DBA experience and strong scripting/automation in PowerShell or Shell are preferred.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of hands-on database administration experience preferred.
• Strong hands-on experience administering Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases.
• Experience supporting databases across development, test and production environments.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and/or MariaDB, and scripting/automation skills.

This role involves supporting critical operational technology environments within the utilities sector, including distribution, transmission, and nuclear applications. The position offers the chance to work on enterprise database environments with a focus on stability, performance, and business continuity.

Position Overview for the Database Administrator II:

• Support and maintain enterprise database environments supporting operational technology within a utility organization
• Administer Oracle and SQL Server databases across development, test, and production environments
• Support PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB environments as needed
• Perform database backup, recovery, performance tuning, patching, and upgrades
• Collaborate closely with application support, infrastructure, development, and architecture teams

Requirements for the Database Administrator II:

• 5–7 years of hands-on database administration experience preferred
• Strong hands-on experience administering Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases
• Experience supporting databases across test, development, and production environments
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and/or MariaDB
• Strong scripting and automation experience using PowerShell and Shell/KornShell
