Job summary

Cleveland Metroparks is seeking a Database Administrator to design, implement, and maintain robust databases supporting critical operations. You will partner with stakeholders across the organization to ensure reliability, performance, and security of data systems, while leading data modeling, ETL, and BI reporting efforts.

The role emphasizes collaboration, proactive problem solving, and staying current with new database technologies to meet evolving needs of the enterprise.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and schedules database management plans to ensure high performance and availability.
• Administers databases in high-availability environments, including clustering, replication, backup/restore, security, and capacity management.
• Develops system-specific specifications, backup and recovery procedures, and data modeling methodologies.
• Collaborates with departments to translate data needs into technical solutions and deliver outputs meeting business objectives.
• Performs database upgrades, conversions, and migrations.
• Audits database systems and resolves performance, capacity, replication, and security issues.
• Analyzes data relationships, data flow, storage requirements, and reporting capabilities.
• Provides consulting and technical support to developers, analysts, management, and users.
• Responds to and resolves production and application issues on a 24-hour on-call basis.
• Administers Power BI, including ad hoc reports and data visualizations for internal stakeholders.
• Performs setup and configuration of standalone and clustered databases and data warehouses.
• Designs and maintains data models, ER diagrams, normalization, and physical object changes.
• Writes ETL scripts for data migration, warehousing, and job scheduling.
• Stays current with emerging database technologies and evaluates new tools for potential implementation.
• Develops, implements, and documents installation procedures, monitoring processes, security policies, and change guidelines.
