Job summary

Tabby is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to join its Infrastructure team. You will design, deploy, and maintain PostgreSQL databases at scale, ensure backups, DR, and high availability, and work with DevOps tooling to keep systems reliable and fast.

You will collaborate with global engineering teams, optimize queries, and stay current with new database technologies. Remote, fully remote setup with competitive equity is offered.

Qualifications

• Proven PostgreSQL experience including setup, replication, upgrades, monitoring, and tuning.
• Ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries.
• Experience with backup and recovery strategies including PITR.
• Cloud migration experience with large databases.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Terraform and Helm.
• Experience with real-time streaming tools like Debezium or Flink.
• Professional English communication (B2 or higher).
• Nice-to-have: ClickHouse, DBaaS on cloud (GCP/AWS) and relevant certs.

We're looking for a Senior Database Administrator to join our Infrastructure team and help build and maintain reliable, high-performance database systems at scale. You'll work on challenging technical problems, drive improvements in database reliability and performance, and contribute to the infrastructure powering Tabby's growing business.

• Design, construct, install, and maintain large relational databases.
• Maintain the integrity and security of the database, including backups and recovery procedures.
• Implement and manage disaster recovery and failover systems.
• Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required.
• Optimize queries for performance.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize database usage.
• Set up and maintain database replication, clustering, mirroring, and other high availability strategies.
• Use and understand tools like PgBouncer and modern monitoring systems.
• Stay up to date with the latest database technologies and best practices.

• Proven hands-on experience with PostgreSQL (required), including setup, replication, upgrades, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries.
• Experience with backup and recovery strategies, including Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR).
• Strong understanding of database design, documentation, and development best practices.
• Working knowledge of scripting/programming languages such as Bash, Python, or Go.
• Experience migrating large databases across cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with modern DevOps practices, including Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm.
• Experience with real-time data streaming technologies such as Debezium or Flink.
• Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication abilities.
• Professional proficiency in English (B2 level or higher).
