Position Introduction/Key Duties

Cimarron is seeking a Database Administrator to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.

Key Duties

• Install, configure, operate, and maintain database systems across the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) enterprise network.
• Research and apply best practices for database design and administration.
• Create and maintain standard database policies, operating procedures, and documentation.
• Monitor database performance, perform fine-tuning, and optimize database systems.
• Develop and implement database backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Conduct audits to assess database capacity and availability.
• Define database system requirements and recommend technology solutions as part of IT and business projects.
• Research, document, and introduce new database technologies and features into the application life cycle.
• Collaborate with application developers, business owners, and architects on design and implementation efforts.
  
  
  

Required/Desired Skills, Experience, And Education

Required Skills, Experience, and Education :

• This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire. • Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include, but is not limited to, testing for marijuana use.
• Active Secret Clearance
• 6 or more years of experience with database architecture, DBA task automation, and/or data modeling/schema design.
• Ability to obtain an appropriate computing environment certification (e.g., Microsoft Windows Server 2016, Microsoft Azure) within 6 months of start date.
• Current DoD 8570 Level II Certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE or higher), or ability to obtain within 3 months of start date.
  
  
  

Desired Skills, Experience, And Education

• Experience with MS SQL Server 2019 or higher.
• Experience with MS SQL Server clustering, performance tuning, and database monitoring.
• Experience with MS SQL Server database backup and recovery.
• Knowledge and experience with relational DBMS concepts, design, architecture, and operations.
• Experience working with databases in cloud environments such as Azure or AWS.
