Job summary

Nodi, Tallahassee-based department, seeks a senior Database Administrator to lead design, optimization, and cloud deployments across Azure SQL and PostgreSQL.

The role requires 8+ years in DB design, T-SQL, SSRS, Azure Power BI, and cloud data security, with proven performance tuning and large-scale implementation experience. You will produce technical docs and collaborate across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or MIS or related field; preferred.
• 8+ years of experience with DB design, testing, deployment, maintenance, and admin.
• Experience with backup/recovery, parameter configuration, and data warehousing concepts.
• 8+ years writing complex T-SQL queries, views, stored procedures, and UDFs.
• 5+ years with MS SQL Server and SSRS, using parameters, sub-reports, drill-downs, subscriptions.
• 5+ years producing technical documentation (requirements, specs, traceability, testing).
• 3+ years creating reports in Azure Power BI.
• 3+ years web application development experience.
• 2+ years Azure DevOps and Visual Studio .NET experience.
• 3+ years administering Azure SQL DB/Managed Instance and PostgreSQL.
• Expertise in data security standards and regulatory requirements.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, Visio; review requirements/docs for implementation.
• Experience with large-scale implementation projects.
• Expert knowledge of RDBMS and DB architecture principles.
• Strong performance tuning and troubleshooting in complex DB environments.
• Experience reducing query times and optimizing DB performance.
• Experience optimizing cloud DB resources and cost management.
• Ability to analyze complex DB environments and recommend improvements.
• Experience with Azure SQL Database and PostgreSQL in cloud contexts.
• Experience supporting high-volume transactional and analytical workloads.
• Experience with performance engineering and DB tuning methodologies.

Job description

The Department is seeking a Database Administrator professional, with the following minimum qualifications (these qualifications must be clearly stated on the resume and verifiable via reference checks):

• Bachelor of Science/Arts degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems Degree, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of experience working with various database management systems in database design, testing, implementation, maintenance, and administration of multiple platform environments.
• Experience with performing backup and recovery on database management systems, configure database parameters, and prototype designs against logical data models, defines data repository requirements, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements.
• Minimum 8 years of experience writing complex efficient queries, views, stored procedures, and user defined functions with MS T/SQL.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with MS SQL Server and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) utilizing parameters, sub-reports, drill down technologies and subscriptions.
• Minimum 5 years of experience producing technical documentation related to requirements, specifications, traceability matrices, designs, or testing.
• Minimum 3 years of experience creating and maintaining reports in Azure Power BI.
• Minimum 3 years of experience developing with web applications.
• Minimum 2 years of experience working with Azure Dev Ops and Visual Studio .NET.
• Minimum 3 years of experience administering cloud database platforms, including Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database, and/or Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
• Expertise in aligning application strategies with data security standards and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Visio. Reviews documents, including requirements documents, testing plans, development plans and architectural plans to ensure that implementation of said documents and plans will result in the system required by the user.
• Demonstrated experience with large-scale implementation projects.
• Expert knowledge of relational database management systems and database architecture principles.
• Strong performance tuning and troubleshooting skills in complex database environments.
• Experience reducing query response times and improving application performance through database optimization techniques.
• Experience optimizing cloud database resource utilization and supporting cloud cost management initiatives.
• Ability to analyze complex database environments and recommend performance, scalability, availability, and optimization strategies.
• Experience with cloud database platforms, including Azure SQL Database and Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
• Experience supporting high-volume transactional and analytical database workloads.
• Experience with performance engineering and database tuning methodologies.
