Job summary

Babel Street is seeking a motivated Software Engineer I to join our data team. You will build, maintain, and support core data warehouse solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), collaborating closely with data analysts to translate reporting requests into clean data models.

This entry-level position is suitable for self-starters with strong SQL skills. The role can be hybrid from one of our three U.S. offices or possibly fully remote for candidates outside that area.

Qualifications

• Strong command of SQL including joins and aggregations.
• Conceptual understanding of relational databases and ETL/ELT concepts.
• Hands-on experience building dashboards in Looker or similar BI tools.
• Familiarity with Python for scripting and Git for version control.
• Proactive learner who takes initiative to solve problems.
• Ability to analyze business problems and implement structured solutions.
• Deep care for data quality and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building and maintaining data models in Google BigQuery.
• Partner with analysts to translate data requirements into structured tables.
• Build and optimize Looker dashboards and reports.
• Ensure data integrity with validation queries.
• Help monitor and maintain Apache Airflow DAGs.
• Learn and apply query optimization techniques.
