Job summary

The State University of New York is seeking a part-time Student Assistant to support the Survey Administration and Data Visualization team. You will help design and maintain interactive dashboards, validate data, and document definitions across SUNY-wide initiatives.

This role offers exposure to higher education analytics, data storytelling, and collaboration with institutional research professionals. 20 hours/week, Fall 2026–Summer 2027, with pay rates of $18/hour (masters) or $20/hour

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a graduate student at a SUNY institution.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Interest in research, data analysis, or data visualization.

Responsibilities

• Support data visualization and dashboard development for SUNY surveys and analytics.
• Create visualizations using Tableau and Power BI under supervision.
• Assist with data validation, QA, and documentation of data definitions.
• Contribute to dashboard usability improvements and data storytelling.
• Support special research projects and ad hoc data requests.
