A leading media and cultural intelligence firm focused on understanding people, brands, and culture is seeking a Data Visualization Designer to join its team. The company leverages data-driven insights to inform marketing and communications strategies and is known for its innovative approach and commitment to thought leadership in the industry.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$50/hr - $60/hr

Position Overview:

The Data Visualization Designer will combine the mindset of an editor with the skills of a designer. This individual will bring consumer, cultural, channel, and trend research to life through compelling visual storytelling. This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-paced insights and thought leadership team responsible for creating industry-leading reports, POVs, and editorial content.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate work they personally designed and executed and provide a portfolio showcasing presentation design, thought leadership reports, editorial content, and data visualization work.

Responsibilities of the Data Visualization Designer:

• Design and produce visually compelling thought leadership reports, presentations, and POVs from researcher-generated content and data.
• Translate dense research findings into clear, engaging editorial narratives and data visualizations.
• Create and design reports ranging from 10-slide presentations to comprehensive 30-40 page studies.
• Develop charts, infographics, and visual assets that effectively communicate key insights.
• Own the visual presentation and editorial quality of all research-driven content.
• Manage and update website content and Substack publications.
• Adapt longer-form thought leadership reports into shorter, digital-friendly content formats.
• Collaborate closely with researchers and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure insights are communicated effectively.
• Balance multiple concurrent projects across several specialty areas while meeting deadlines.

Required Experience/Skills for the Data Visualization Designer:

• 5+ years of experience in content editing, editorial design, thought leadership, insights marketing, publishing, or a related field.
• Strong portfolio showcasing data visualization, report design, presentations, and editorial content.
• Expert-level PowerPoint skills with the ability to build sophisticated, publication-quality presentations.
• Experience transforming research, data, and insights into visually engaging content.
• Strong understanding of layout, typography, information hierarchy, and visual storytelling.
• Experience creating infographics and data-driven visual content.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Data Visualization Designer:

• Experience supporting insights, strategy, consumer research, consulting, media, agency, or thought leadership teams.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
• Familiarity with AI-powered creative tools and content generation platforms.
• Experience managing digital content platforms, websites, or newsletter platforms such as Substack.
• Background in editorial publishing, research communications, or branded content.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or a related field preferred.
