Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Geography, or related field.
• Experience: 5+ years in data analytics, BI, or related discipline.
• Proficient with leading visualization platforms (Power BI, Tableau, ESRI Experience Builder or similar).
• Experience with data engineering tasks: ETL, data modeling, querying (SQL).
• Strong business analysis: requirements gathering, facilitation, documentation.
• Excellent communication for diverse audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in deadline-driven environments.
• Client-facing project delivery track record.

Position Overview

The Data Analytics & Visualization Specialist will serve as a trusted technical advisor and solutions provider, delivering turnkey data analysis and visualization services to FNI's diverse client base. This role bridges the gap between raw data and meaningful insight, combining business analysis expertise, data engineering proficiency, and dynamic dashboard development into a seamless client experience. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem-solver who thrives in a client-facing environment and can translate complex data into compelling visual narratives that drive informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Client Engagement & Business Analysis
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for data analytics engagements, building strong, trust-based client relationships
  • Facilitate discovery sessions and stakeholder interviews to clearly define client goals, business requirements, and success metrics
  • Translate client needs into actionable technical specifications and project scopes
  • Communicate project status, findings, and deliverables to both technical and non-technical audiences with clarity and confidence
  • Identify opportunities to expand analytics services and provide value-added solutions to existing clients
• Data Engineering & Management
  • Assess client data environments, including sources, formats, quality, and accessibility
  • Design and implement data pipelines, transformations, and integration workflows to prepare data for analysis
  • Perform data cleaning, normalization, and validation to ensure accuracy and reliability
  • Develop and maintain data models and schemas appropriate for reporting and visualization platforms
  • Work with structured and unstructured data from a variety of sources, including databases, GIS systems, spreadsheets, and cloud platforms
• Dashboard Development & Visualization
  • Design, develop, and deploy interactive dashboards and analytical reports tailored to client needs
  • Create intuitive, visually compelling data products that empower clients to explore and act on their data independently
  • Apply best practices in data visualization, UX design, and storytelling to maximize user engagement and comprehension
  • Maintain and enhance existing dashboards based on evolving client requirements and feedback
  • Incorporate geospatial data and mapping capabilities where applicable
• Collaboration & Innovation
  • Work cross-functionally with FNI engineers, scientists, project managers, and other technical staff to integrate analytics into broader project deliverables
  • Stay current with emerging tools, technologies, and industry trends in data analytics and visualization
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, process improvement, and the development of reusable frameworks and templates
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal writing and client presentations

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Geography, or a related field
• Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related discipline
• Demonstrated proficiency with one or more leading visualization platforms, including: Microsoft Power BI Tableau ESRI Experience Builder Or comparable enterprise-grade tools
• Proven experience with data engineering tasks, including ETL processes, data modeling, and database querying (SQL)
• Strong business analysis skills, including requirements gathering, stakeholder facilitation, and documentation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
• Client-facing experience with a track record of successful project delivery

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages, such as: Python, R, JavaScript, DAX, M (Power Query), or SQL variants
• Experience with cloud data platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
• Familiarity with GIS data and geospatial analytics
• Experience in the public sector, municipal, environmental, or infrastructure industries
• Knowledge of Agile or iterative project delivery methodologies
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft PL-300, Tableau Desktop Specialist, ESRI certifications)
