Job summary

SSI is seeking a storage engineer to provide hybrid onsite/remote technical support for data center storage systems at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden.

You will monitor utilization, manage licenses, assist with disaster recovery, and coordinate with vendors. Candidates need 5+ years IT experience, enterprise storage expertise, and an active Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years IT experience.
• Experience with enterprise class data storage systems.
• Active Secret clearance.
• Knowledge of NAS/iSCSI, NetApp Filers, Cohesity, Azure and AWS Backup environments.
• Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Visio, Excel, Word, OneNote, PowerPoint).
• Detail-oriented with strong multitasking and prioritization.
• Knowledge of HA clustering, storage consolidation, performance tuning, CIFS, RAID, multi-pathing, storage archiving.
• Security+ Certification required prior to hire.
• Must have or be able to obtain storage environment certifications (NCDA, OC, NetBackup, etc.).
• Desirable: Oracle Cloud or Google Cloud experience.
• DLA experience a plus.

Responsibilities

Job description

Description

Job requires hybrid support, onsite and remote work, approximately 3 days onsite at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden. Must be able to respond to work location in under 2 hours in case of emergency call.

Provide technical support to data center managing data storage solutions and services.

• Monitor data storage utilization; provide data utilization analysis and reports; document, review, and maintain data storage management procedures.


• Manage storage software and hardware licensing and support agreements


• Assist with escalation of storage problems, coordinate with vendor support personnel.


• Assist with configuration of storage products; maintaining data backup and recovery software configuration; maintain data storage environment configuration; manage data storage software and documentation; assist with escalation of storage problems and coordinate with vendor support personnel; assist in development, maintenance, testing and execution of disaster recovery plans; assist in preparation of disaster recovery test plans.


• Perform Daily Checks on Storage and Backup Hardware and software and, on finding failures / anomalies, research and implement mitigation strategies and solutions to correct issues. Environments should include, but not be limited to NetBackup, Pure, Cohesity, AWS and MS-Azure backup.


• Must complete weekly, daily and as needed detailed reporting requirements for status of projects, storage checks, etc. Reporting may be via email, spreadsheet updates, OneNote maintenance, weekly activity report submissions, etc.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree (in Computer Science or related field) or equivalent, or equivalent experience


• Minimum of 5 years experience in IT


• Experience with enterprise class data storage systems


• Active Secret clearance


• Current working knowledge of storage technologies such as; NAS iSCSI, NetApp Filers (ONTAP/CDOT 9.x), Cohesity Backup Appliances and Servers, MS-Azure and AWS (including Backup environment), SNOW Ticketing, Tape Libraries, EMC Data Domain and VNX, Pure Storage, VMware (vSphere 6.x 7.x)


• Strong MS-Office (Outlook, Visio, Excel, Word, OneNote PowerPoint) skills


• Must be detail-oriented and have ability to multi-task and prioritize projects


• Knowledge of HA clustering, storage consolidation, performance and tuning, CIFS, RAID, multi-pathing, and storage archiving


• Must have prior to hire: Security+ Certification


• Must have or be able to obtain prior to hire: Storage Environment CE certification such as: NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA) or Hybrid Cloud Admin or Architect, NetApp Certified Technology Associate, NetApp Certified Data Administrator, ONTAP, Cohesity Data Protect or NetBackup, VMWare Certified Professional Digital Workspace 2021, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Assoc/Prof, MS Certified Azure Administrator Assoc, etc.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Oracle Cloud or Google Cloud experience
