  • Lead new data initiatives by defining business cases, gathering requirements, and prioritizing projects across the domain.
  • Establish and maintain processes aligned with Enterprise Data Policy and Standards.
  • Oversee access and provisioning of Risk & Compliance data, including defining access controls, supporting data users, and ensuring compliance with Data Service Agreements and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure that all Risk & Compliance data is governed in accordance with enterprise policies and controls.
  • Act as change agent within the Domain, influence changes towards a data driven culture.

Job description

Our client, a major bank in New York City, is looking forRisk & Compliance Data Steward New York City Location. This is hybrid commute, 5 days per 2 weeks in the office. Salary range 200-250K, plus around 20% bonus, plus great benefits package.

Risk and Compliance Data Steward As the Risk & Compliance Data Steward, you will serve as the strategic lead and subject matter expert for the Risk & Compliance Data Domain, which encompasses all functions under the Risk and the Compliance Divisions. You will act as the steward of the Bank’s core system for Risk and Compliance ensuring that data is accurate, accessible, and aligned with enterprise standards. A key part of this role is to understand how Risk and Compliance data is created and used across the organization so that you drive the definition of the Vision and strategy for key platforms supporting the domain, ensuring alignment with business objectives and stakeholder expectations. You will spend a significant amount of time directly engaging with business contacts to understand data requirements, usage, and challenges to be addressed by the data strategy as well as with the Technology partner to create, prioritize, and refine requirements to ensure the development team is always working on the most valuable features. This role will manage Data Steward(s) and Data Quality Analyst(s) supporting the Risk & Compliance Data Domain and sub domains.

Responsibilities
Data Strategy & Governance
  • Translate enterprise workforce strategies into actionable data management plans for the Risk & Compliance Data Domain.
  • Lead new data initiatives by defining business cases, gathering requirements, and prioritizing projects across the domain.
  • Establish and maintain processes aligned with Enterprise Data Policy and Standards.
  • Oversee access and provisioning of Risk & Compliance data, including defining access controls, supporting data users, and ensuring compliance with Data Service Agreements and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure that all Risk & Compliance data is governed in accordance with enterprise policies and controls.
  • Act as change agent within the Domain, influence changes towards a data driven culture.
Data Architecture
  • Manage the definition of golden sources and systems of record for data in scope, including data critical to risk aggregation, regulatory reporting, and control processes.
Data dictionary
  • Support stakeholders in defining, validating, and maintaining business definitions for data elements.
  • Accountable for data lineage and technical metadata for data elements within domain.
  • Identify need for changes in metadata within domain, including impacts to regulatory, compliance or risk reporting data elements.
Data Quality
  • Support stakeholders in developing and managing data quality controls for data within domain to satisfy consumer’s requirements.
  • Oversee remediation of Data Quality issues through prioritizing issues to remediate; review and challenge remediation plans, with focus on issues impacting regulatory accuracy, compliance oversight or risk decisions.
Reporting Structure / Leadership Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate a team of data professionals supporting the Risk and Compliance domains, including direct management responsibilities (e.g., Data Quality Analyst) and oversight of sub-domain stewards.
  • Establish, develop, and oversee a network of Sub-Domain Data Stewards across the Risk and Compliance organizations, ensuring appropriate domain coverage, clear accountability, and effective execution of Data Stewardship responsibilities.
  • Partner with the Data Management Office and business leaders to formalize the Sub-Domain Data Steward model, strengthening ownership and focus for critical data assets.
Demonstrated Skills
  • Fluency in data governance, data quality, and metadata management principles.
  • Strongly preferred: demonstrated experience supporting both Risk and Compliance functions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into data solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience with regulatory, compliance requirements and risk management related to Financial industry.
  • Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive change programs.
