Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience performing eDiscovery roles.
  • Experience with EFP, image/data file conversion and data culling.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance.
  • Strong time management, critical thinking and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform file manipulation, loading, conversion services, database indexing, and quality checks of data loads.
  • Develop, evaluate, and modify methodologies for manipulating files for litigation support.
  • Ensure productions comply with ESI specs and provide notices of deficiencies.
  • Perform advanced data-export tasks from DOJ databases with redactions and QA.
  • Develop and maintain Processing Services procedures per policy.
  • Implement Processing Services per established policies.
  • Process received data using industry standards.
  • Upload processed data to the review platform.
  • Identify opportunities for simplification, automation, and cost reduction.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Processing Service capabilities and reduce costs.

Job description

We are seeking a Data Specialist II to support the Department of Justice (DOJ), National Fraud Enforcement Division, in Washington, DC. This role supports legal and technical services involving forensic data capture, processing, review, and analysis. The position works in a fast-paced environment and requires strong attention to detail, critical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to manage complex data-processing activities.

Position Type: Onsite with some potential for telework/remote work

Location: Washington, DC

Clearance: Public Trust

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform file manipulation, loading, conversion services, database indexing, and quality checks of data loads.
  • Develop, evaluate, and modify methodologies and procedures for manipulating files for use with COTS products and litigation support applications.
  • Ensure incoming productions comply with applicable ESI specifications and provide Senior Data Specialists with detailed notices of deficiencies when identified.
  • Perform advanced data-export tasks from contractor and DOJ databases, including identifying data for export, confirming redactions and other markups, ensuring compliance with applicable ESI specifications, and quality checking exported data.
  • Develop, document, and maintain Processing Services procedures in the "Process and Procedure Manual" in accordance with applicable policies.
  • Implement Processing Services in accordance with established policies.
  • Process received data using industry standards.
  • Upload processed data to the review platform.
  • Identify and implement approved opportunities for simplification, consolidation, automation, cost reduction, and process improvement.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve Processing Service capabilities and reduce associated costs.
Required Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of the litigation discovery process and Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) workflow.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers, including Windows, document review software, and encryption methods.
  • Experience with LAW, IPRO, Relativity/RelOne, Nuix, or other document processing platforms.
  • Experience performing electronic files processing (EFP), image and data file conversion, data culling using review tools, quality assurance, database loads and retrieval, and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of the Government's IT environment, including office automation networks, PC and server-based applications, preferred.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Familiarity with iCONECT, Relativity/RelOne, Axiom/FTK, MS Office Suite, and/or West LiveNote.
  • Experience accessing and handling seized evidence.
  • Experience supporting large document reviews involving more than 1 million records.
  • Experience with large IT and Cloud systems.
  • Knowledge of forensics.
  • Experience with search-related technology.
Qualifications & Experience
  • At least 2 years of experience performing eDiscovery roles, including electronic files processing (EFP), image and data file conversion, data culling using review tools, quality assurance, database loads and retrieval, and data analysis.
  • Undergraduate degree preferred in computer science or related field.
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Strong time and task management, critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
