Job summary

SHI is hiring a Solutions Engineer, Data Engineering to design, build, and deliver enterprise-scale data platforms using Microsoft Azure and Fabric. You will work with Solution Engineers, Principal Engineers, and client stakeholders to implement secure, scalable data pipelines for analytics and AI use cases.

The role is hands-on and delivery-focused, with initial focus on state-level public sector and regulated industry projects, and is primarily remote with a home office provided per policy.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience delivering modern data engineering solutions on Microsoft Azure and/or Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience designing and operating production data platforms with data modeling, incremental processing, and monitoring.
• Strong understanding of data security, governance, and compliance concepts.
• Experience working in consulting or project-based delivery environments with client stakeholders.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, testing, and infrastructure-as-code concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement data ingestion, transformation, and integration pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric, and related services.
• Build and optimize data lakehouse and warehouse solutions in Azure, ensuring scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
• Develop and maintain data models and ETL/ELT processes for multi-source datasets.
• Configure and manage ADLS Gen2 environments, including lifecycle management and archival strategies.
• Implement data validation, cleansing, and quality controls for trusted data platforms.
• Collaborate with BI and analytics teams to prepare data for reporting, analytics, and AI use cases.
• Apply security best practices including encryption and identity-based access controls in compliance with HIPAA and NIST 800-53.
• Support data governance, lineage, and operational readiness.
• Implement monitoring and operational reporting for pipelines and platforms.
• Work with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Participate in workshops, discovery sessions, and requirements gathering with clients and internal teams.
• Translate business requirements into actionable technical solutions.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation and runbooks.
• Contribute to reusable frameworks and engineering best practices within Data & AI practice.
• Engage in code reviews, testing, and quality assurance; follow CI/CD and environment promotion practices.
• Support post-implementation activities including troubleshooting and optimization.
