Job summary

Highgate invites applications for a Data Services Intern at our Irving, TX corporate office. The 2027 internship offers exposure to data analysis, reporting, and data quality in hospitality.

You will learn to optimize hotel operations through dashboards, forecasting, and cross-functional collaboration with marketing, operations, and revenue teams. Applicants should be enrolled in a related Bachelor’s or Master’s program, be a junior, and reside in Dallas during the internship.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Bachelor's or Master's program in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
• Minimum Junior status.
• Proficient in SQL and familiar with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).
• Basic understanding of Excel, Python, or R for data manipulation.
• Knowledge of database management and data warehouse concepts.
• Detail-oriented, analytical mindset, and strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to multi-task in a high-paced environment.
• Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Ability to participate in a summer internship program of 10 weeks (June-August).
• You must reside in Dallas, TX during the internship and work onsite in Irving, TX.

Responsibilities

• Data Management & Reporting: assist with data collection, cleansing, and validation.
• Develop, update, and streamline dashboards and reports.
• Ensure data consistency across systems (PMS, CRM, Booking Engines).
• Data Analysis: use Power BI to create actionable insights for teams.
• Support predictive analytics projects to forecast demand and optimize pricing.

Overview

Join Highgate this summer for an exciting opportunity with our Data Services - Information Technology team as a Data Services Intern!

Our 2027 Data Services Internship gives you the opportunity to explore how data supports decision-making across the hospitality industry. You'll work alongside experienced Data Services professionals, gain exposure to real-world data analysis, reporting, and data quality initiatives, and work with data related to booking patterns, customer feedback, operational metrics, and other aspects of the business. You'll begin developing the technical and analytical skills that help optimize hotel operations, support business decisions, and enhance the guest experience. Our internship begins in June and is based at our Corporate Offices in Irving, TX.

Responsibilities

• Data Management & Reporting
  • o Assist with data collection, cleansing, and validation to maintain data quality.
  • o Work with team members to develop, update, and streamline dashboards and reports.
  • o Ensure data consistency across various systems (e.g., PMS, CRM, Booking Engines).
• Data Analysis
  • o Use data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI) to create clear and actionable insights for teams across the organization.
  • o Support predictive analytics projects to forecast demand, enhance inventory management, and optimize pricing strategies.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • o Collaborate with marketing, operations, finance, and revenue management teams to understand data needs and gather requirements.
  • o Assist in training hotel staff on data tools and interpreting data insights for operational efficiency.
• Data Security & Compliance
  • o Help ensure data handling procedures comply with relevant privacy laws and corporate policies.
  • o Support the team in monitoring data access, security protocols, and adherence to best practices.

• Salary - $20/hour for 40-hour week, with a duration of 10 weeks.

For Employees Based in Washington:

• 8 paid holidays per year
• Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
• Paid Sick & Safe Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, with up to 72 hours of unused time carried over from one anniversary year to the next.

For Employees Based in Colorado:

• 8 paid holidays per year; employees working in the City of Denver receive 64 hours of designated holiday time per calendar year
• Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
• 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

For Employees Based in California:

• 8 paid holidays per year
• Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
• Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.
