Job summary

Highgate invites you to join its Internal Audit internship at the Irving, TX corporate offices for Summer 2027. You'll work with our audit professionals on planning, data analysis, and reporting across our hotel portfolio.

The program runs for 10 weeks starting in June, onsite at our Corporate Offices in Irving, TX, offering hands-on experience in SOPs, compliance, SOX, and internal controls, with mentorship and real responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or Hospitality Finance (in progress).
• Minimum Junior status.
• Knowledge of accounting and/or finance principles.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and reports) and PowerPoint skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines independently.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Must be organized with the ability to work accurately in a time-efficient manner.
• Demonstrate communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Ability to commit to a 10-week onsite internship (June-August).
• Must reside in the Dallas, TX area during the internship and work onsite in Irving, TX.
• Salary - $20/hour for 40-hour week, with a duration of 10 weeks.

Responsibilities

• Assist with internal audits for hotel properties and corporate functions.
• Work with property and corporate personnel to gather information and supporting documentation during audits.
• Assist with preparing internal audit reports, including findings and recommendations for improvement.
• Support quarterly monitoring and verification of SOX compliance for applicable properties.
• Assist with maintaining SOPs, process documentation, and internal control materials.
• Support initiatives focused on improving efficiency, accuracy, and reporting processes.
• Assist with accounting training and the development of supporting materials.
• Assist with ad hoc audit projects and other departmental initiatives.
• Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.

Overview

Join Highgate this summer for an exciting opportunity with our Internal Audit division as an Internal Audit Intern!

Our 2027 Internal Audit Internship gives you the opportunity to explore how internal audit supports financial accuracy, compliance, and business performance across the hospitality industry. You'll work alongside experienced Audit professionals, gain exposure to audit planning, compliance reviews, data analysis, and reporting across our hotel portfolio, and begin developing the analytical and problem-solving skills that help support effective business operations. Our internship begins in June and is based at our Corporate Offices in Irving, TX.

For Employees Based in Colorado

• 8 paid holidays per year; employees working in the City of Denver receive 64 hours of designated holiday time per calendar year
• Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
• 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

For Employees Based in California

• 8 paid holidays per year
• Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
• Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.
