Jump Trading Group is seeking a Data Scout within the Data Strategy Group (DSG) to identify, vet, and promote external datasets powering trading research. You will map the alt data landscape, source vendors, assess data viability, and maintain a pipeline of opportunities while collaborating with researchers and attending industry events.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years in the alternative data ecosystem at a trading firm, hedge fund, vendor, or marketplace.
• Strong knowledge of alt data categories and a network of vendor contacts.
• Ability to judge data quality from samples or docs; Excel required; SQL/Python a plus.
• Familiarity with data compliance issues including privacy, consent, and MNPI.
• Clear, concise writing and excellent organization; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Map the alternative data landscape by category and track new entrants.
• Find and source datasets through network, events, marketplaces and research.
• Vet opportunities for viability and use cases before team review.
• Package vendor summaries and maintain data catalogue and pipeline.
• Represent Jump externally at industry conferences and with vendors.
• Share insights on market trends and data coverage gaps.
