Job summary

VTG is seeking a Data Scientist to support our Beavercreek team. The role focuses on designing, prototyping, and implementing a data management and application development pipeline for defense data science projects.

You will gather and organize data, perform analytics, and develop AI/ML based applications with a cross-functional team of DevOps engineers, data engineers, and software developers. A TS/SCI eligible clearance is required or ability to obtain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience as a Data Scientist including statistical modeling and ML on large data sets.
• Experience with data storage and management tools (S3, SQL, MongoDB, HBase, Apache Atlas, Kafka, etc).
• Programming in Python, R, or similar data manipulation languages and libraries (pandas, numpy, etc).
• Experience with data science toolsets (JupyterHub, Jupyter Notebooks, Apache Spark, MATLAB).
• Knowledge of data modeling principles.
• Experience extracting insights from structured and unstructured data.
• Cloud development experience, preferably AWS.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• US Citizen with TOP SECRET/SCI clearance or ability to obtain clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and implement data management and app development pipeline.
• Gather and organize data, conduct data analytics.
• Develop data analytics and AI/ML applications.
• Collaborate with DevOps, software, and data teams to prototype solutions.
• Leverage tools to architect modern data pipelines in cloud/local environments.
• Provide technical input to program managers and government representatives.
