DATA SCIENTIST (SATELLITE SOFTWARE SYSTEMS)

• We are seeking a Data Scientist to support the development of advanced data analytics for a satellite system designed for space-based water transportation. The ideal candidate will leverage statistical modeling, machine learning, and big data techniques to analyze satellite telemetry, optimize mission performance, and enhance system reliability. This role requires expertise in data engineering, predictive analytics, and real-time data processing in aerospace applications.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Modeling:

• Analyze large-scale satellite telemetry, sensor data, and system logs to extract insights and improve operational efficiency.
• Integrate visual feeds for analysis and sent to ground station.
• Develop predictive models for fault detection, anomaly detection, and failure prediction.
• Apply machine learning and statistical techniques to optimize satellite navigation, power consumption, and communication efficiency.
• Design and implement data pipelines for ingesting, cleaning, and processing real-time and historical satellite data.
• Software Development & Deployment

Reliability & Security Considerations:

• Ensure data integrity, encryption, and cybersecurity for sensitive space mission data.
• Assist in designing fault-tolerant data storage and backup strategies for onboard and ground-based systems.

What We're Looking For

• Education: BS or MS in Data Science, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or machine learning, preferably in aerospace, robotics, or industrial IoT.
• Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, TensorFlow, PyTorch), R, or Julia.
• Big Data & Databases: Experience with SQL, NoSQL, Apache Spark, Kafka, or time-series databases (InfluxDB, Prometheus, etc.).

Nice-to-Have

• Experience working with remote sensing data, Earth observation, or satellite imagery.
• Understanding of orbital mechanics, space mission design, and satellite communications.
• Knowledge of fault-tolerant distributed systems and edge computing architectures for space applications.
