Job summary

USAA is seeking a Data Scientist II (Mid Level) for Pricing and Product Analytics across Auto and Property Data Science teams. You will turn business problems into statistical, machine learning, simulation, and optimization solutions that drive value through automation, revenue, and risk reduction.

The role is eligible for remote work within the continental United States, with occasional travel; employees near offices may work on-site four days a week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field or four years of related education/experience.
• Two years of experience in predictive analytics or data analysis, or an advanced degree.
• Experience training and validating statistical, ML, or other analytics models.
• Proficient in Python or R and able to write clear, well-documented code.
• Experience querying and preparing data from structured or unstructured databases using SQL, HQL, NoSQL, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with descriptive and inferential statistics, supervised/unsupervised modeling, and communicating results to non-technical partners.

Responsibilities

• Gather, interpret, and prepare structured and unstructured data to support analytical solutions.
• Select suitable modeling techniques and technologies based on data limitations, intended use, and business needs.
• Develop and deploy models within Model Development Control and Model Risk Management frameworks, and work with model risk partners to assess results before production deployment.
• Translate business requests into analytical questions, conduct analyses, and explain findings to non-technical colleagues.
• Partner with Data Engineering, IT, business teams, and other stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions aligned with customer needs and modeling standards.
• Contribute to internal tools, packages, and applications, document work for technical review, pursue new methods, and ensure risks are identified and controlled.
