Data Scientist, One Medical - Clinical Effectiveness

Join to apply for the Data Scientist, One Medical - Clinical Effectiveness role at One Medical.

The mission of One Medical's Clinical Effectiveness team is to deliver standard-setting health outcomes for our patients while reducing the total cost of care.

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist with a proven track record of independently delivering impactful Data Science solutions, working collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

In this role, you will work closely with clinical and cross-functional leaders across the organization to understand, define, and solve problems related to patient safety, value-based care, cardiometabolic health, mental health, population health, and clinical-operational efficiency.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with clinical leaders to plan and execute statistical analyses assessing the impact of clinical effectiveness, patient safety, and care quality initiatives.
  2. Communicate analytical results and methods effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  3. Work with other Data Scientists to define requirements, establish success metrics, and deliver high-quality AI/ML solutions.
  4. Contribute to the ongoing improvement of team processes and tools.
A day in the life
  1. Manage ownership of clinical effectiveness statistical analyses, including stakeholder engagement.
  2. Design and develop data pipelines utilizing generative AI models (LLMs).
  3. Write complex queries on large healthcare datasets.
  4. Participate in code reviews and design discussions.
  5. Provide input to guide the team's roadmap and technology strategy.
Basic Qualifications
  1. At least 2 years of experience as a data scientist.
  2. Over 3 years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, Matlab).
  3. Over 3 years of experience with machine learning/statistical modeling tools and techniques, including understanding parameters affecting performance.
  4. Experience applying theoretical models in practical environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Master's degree or higher in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science.
  2. Experience working with healthcare data or a strong interest in the domain.
  3. Expert proficiency in Python and SQL.
  4. Experience with cloud infrastructure like Snowflake, MLFlow, Sagemaker, and AWS services.
  5. Experience with LLM prompting techniques and evaluation.
  6. Background in patient safety, safety analysis, reliability engineering, or related fields.
