Job summary

Google seeks a PhD‑level candidate for a Data Scientist internship in the US, with emphasis on processing and interpreting large data sets to shape business and technical strategies. You will work across teams to mine data, identify opportunities for efficiency, and help guide decisions based on rigorous analytics.

Responsibilities include building scalable analysis pipelines, collaborating with engineers and product teams, and presenting findings to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a PhD degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics, biostatistics, physics, applied mathematics, operations research, economics).
• Experience with statistical methods.
• Experience with data analysis.
• Experience using R or Python and statistical software (R, SAS).

Responsibilities

• Work with large complex data sets, solve difficult non-routine analysis problems, and apply advanced analytical methods.
• Build and prototype analysis pipelines iteratively to provide insights at scale.
• Interact cross-functionally with engineers, Product Managers, Sales, and Marketing teams.
• Make business recommendations with effective presentations of findings to stakeholders.
• Research and develop analysis, forecasting, and optimization methods for Google products.
