Tinder is seeking a Data Scientist Intern to uncover insights from one of the world’s largest datasets, enhancing user experience and safety. You’ll work with engineers, data scientists, and product teams on data-driven problems that shape how people connect.

You will design experiments, build analytics tools, and translate insights into actionable strategies for product roadmaps. This full-time internship is based in San Francisco with hybrid in-office collaboration three days a week.

Qualificações

• Intermediate to advanced SQL skills for data querying and analysis.
• Familiarity with / building to proficiency in Python.
• Strong foundation in statistics, probability, and experimental design (A/B testing).
• Clear written communication and a curious, fast-learning mindset.
• Comfort using AI tools as part of workflow, with judgment to check outputs.
• Currently pursuing a BS/BA, MS, or PhD in a related field.

Program Duration

About the Role

As a Data Scientist Intern at Tinder, you’ll help us uncover insights from one of the world’s largest datasets to enhance user experience, strengthen safety, and drive innovation across our platform. You’ll work alongside talented engineers, data scientists, and product teams to solve real‑world problems using data‑driven approaches that shape the future of how people connect.

What you’ll do

• Design and execute A/B experiments to measure the impact of product features and algorithmic changes.
• Help build and improve the team’s experimentation and analytics tooling, including AI‑assisted workflows, with a focus on standardization, automation, and clear documentation.
• Take a scoped analysis from question to recommendation, with guidance from your mentor.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional partners in Data Science, Product, and Engineering to translate insights into actionable strategies.
• Present key findings and project outcomes to Product and Leadership teams during end‑of‑internship demos.
• Translate data insights into clear narratives and recommendations that inform product roadmaps and user experience improvements.
• Explore and analyze large‑scale datasets to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities.

What we’re looking for

• Passion for using data and experimentation to solve complex problems.
• Intermediate to advanced SQL skills for data querying and analysis.
• Familiarity with / building to proficiency in Python.
• Strong foundation in statistics, probability, and experimental design (A/B testing, hypothesis testing).
• Clear written communication and a curious, fast‑learning mindset.
• Comfort using AI tools (e.g., LLM‑based coding and analysis assistants) as a regular part of your workflow, and the judgment to check their output.
• Currently pursuing a BS/BA, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Statistics, Applied Math, or a related field.

$43 - $43 an hour

The compensation range listed above is representative of the hourly rate offered.

Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job‑related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary range is reflective of a position based in San Francisco, California. This hourly rate will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city, state, and country), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
