Job description

Meta is seeking a Data Scientist to join a newly formed team in the Finance organization that partners closely with Product, AI, Infrastructure, and other Data Science teams across the company. This team is focused on building transformative AI products for Meta’s 3+ billion users, managing substantial capital deployment, and optimizing resource allocation.

The role involves using data analysis to address key product development challenges, understanding the technical aspects of AI and Infrastructure, and influencing company-wide investment prioritization. As an individual contributor, you will impact product strategy, collaborate across teams, and contribute to a world-class analytics community.

Responsibilities:

• Work with large, complex data sets to solve challenging problems using various analytical approaches.
• Apply quantitative analysis, experimentation, and data mining to build models for planning and strategic decisions.
• Build models to analyze Infrastructure OPEX and CAPEX costs at multiple levels.
• Develop perspectives on ROI of Infrastructure investments and resource allocation.
• Measure success of investments through goal setting, forecasting, and monitoring metrics.
• Help define resource allocation policies from technical, operational, and financial viewpoints.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and data science teams on impact assessments and resource reallocation.
• Maintain decision lineage to ensure accountability.
• Identify opportunities to improve models and influence roadmaps with insights.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support product strategy and investment decisions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• At least 12 years of analytics experience (8+ years with a Ph.D.).
• Proficiency in data querying (SQL), scripting (Python), and statistical software (R).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field.
• Experience in data science roles at hyperscalers or cloud providers.
• Ability to work cross-functionally, handle ambiguity, and communicate technical content clearly.
• Interest in the relationship between business outcomes and technology investments.
