Requirements

We are seeking a Data Scientist II to join our growing data science team. This role is designed for a mid-level data scientist who thrives in an environment of limited supervision, demonstrating technical expertise, ownership, and problem-solving skills. You will independently handle complex data science projects, mentor junior data scientists, and contribute to the development of scalable machine learning models and analytical solutions that drive business impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, deploy, and optimize data science models and machine learning algorithms with minimal supervision.
  • Independently write and maintain clean, scalable, and efficient code across multiple frameworks and libraries to improve overall engineering quality.
  • Apply software architecture patterns (e.g., MVC, microservices) to design and implement scalable and modular data science solutions.
  • Perform intermediate troubleshooting and problem-solving, analyzing multiple interrelated factors to refine models, resolve data issues, and enhance model performance.
  • Make data-driven decisions that impact daily operations while balancing trade-offs and business goals.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and business teams to understand customer needs and adapt solutions as needed.
  • Lead and mentor entry-level data scientists and SDETs, providing technical guidance and best practices.
  • Regularly contribute to technical discussions, sharing insights and innovative ideas to improve team efficiency and data science strategies.
  • Exhibit strong self-leadership and ownership, proactively taking on challenging projects and identifying areas for process or performance improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in data science, analytics, or machine learning engineering.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, R, Scala, or similar) with the ability to write well-structured, maintainable code.
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms, model deployment, and data engineering best practices.
  • Experience with software engineering principles, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Databricks).
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, solving complex business problems with data-driven insights.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau, Power BI) to communicate insights effectively.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Experience in MLOps, model deployment, and automation.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Understanding of A/B testing and experimentation for data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience leading technical reviews, code refactoring, and performance optimizations.
