Job summary
McKinsey & Company is seeking a data science-oriented student about to graduate (Dec 2026–Aug 2027) to join its North America Data Science community. You will translate business problems into analytical challenges, develop ML/GenAI solutions, and collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and industry experts to create robust, scalable models across diverse industries.

Qualifications
- Upcoming graduation between December 2026 and August 2027 with a Master’s, Bachelor’s or PhD in computer science, machine learning, applied statistics, mathematics, engineering, artificial intelligence, or a related field
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, including the Python AI stack
- Ability to translate business problems into analytical challenges and build/evaluate models
- Foundational understanding of optimization, simulation, and decision logic concepts
- Familiarity with Generative AI tools and simple agentic AI frameworks
- Quality and risk mindset: validate work, document assumptions, and evaluate prompts/agents
- Exposure to CI/CD and agentic engineering concepts
- Strong time management and ability to work in autonomous environments
- Willingness to travel
- Strong English communication skills in addition to local languages
Responsibilities
- Translate business problems into analytical challenges and develop/evaluate models across ML, optimization, GenAI, and agentic AI systems
- Work with experienced colleagues to select/implement analytical approaches and ensure data quality and evaluation standards
- Deliver solutions that are robust and fit for purpose
- Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, software engineers, and industry experts to connect analytics with business needs
- Contribute to projects like automated claims workflows, capital project optimization, predictive modeling for customer service, and digital twin development
