Blu Omega is seeking a Data Scientist for an onsite role in Washington, DC, supporting a federal financial data analysis program.

The role focuses on processing large-scale datasets, building analytical models, and delivering actionable insights to senior management while working in a secure, government-related environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with large-scale financial data environments.
• Proficiency in Python and Jupyter Notebook; also R, NumPy, pandas and scikit-learn.
• Experience with transactional data from SWIFT, CHIPS and book transfers.
• Strong foundation in statistical methods and data analysis techniques.
• Ability to derive actionable insights from large datasets.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve, process, and analyze large-scale financial datasets, including Bank Secrecy Act data and related transaction information.
• Perform entity resolution and data cleansing to maintain data quality and integrity across large datasets.
• Develop and implement analytical models and algorithms using quantitative techniques (e.g., regression, data mining).
• Query, filter, and visualize data using agency tools and platforms, including BSA Search and Transaction Grid Search.
• Build custom datasets, queries, and code to support analytical workflows and reporting needs.
• Communicate project progress, findings, and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve, process, and analyze large-scale financial datasets, including Bank Secrecy Act data and related transaction information
• Perform entity resolution and data cleansing to maintain data quality and integrity across large datasets
• Develop and implement analytical models and algorithms using quantitative techniques such as:
  • Statistical sampling
  • Regression analysis
  • Link analysis
  • Geospatial analysis
  • Social network analysis
  • Data mining
• Query, filter, and visualize data using agency tools and platforms, including BSA Search and Transaction Grid Search
• Build custom datasets, queries, and code to support analytical workflows and reporting needs
• Communicate project progress, analytical findings, and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders

Requirements

• Experience working with large-scale financial data environments, including transactional data from SWIFT, CHIPS, and book transfer systems
• Knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act data, including SARs, CTRs, and Form 8300 filings
• Proficiency with Python and Jupyter Notebook, plus R, NumPy, pandas, and scikit-learn
• Strong foundation in statistical methods and data analysis techniques
• Ability to analyze large datasets to identify trends and patterns and deliver actionable insights

Compensation

• Salary Range: USD 120,000 - 180,000 per yearly
• Final compensation depends on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance
