Job summary

Peraton Labs is seeking a Data Scientist to transform complex data into trusted metrics, dashboards, and analytics products supporting FAA modernization objectives. The role emphasizes analytical judgment, data-centric problem solving, and collaboration with CTO leadership to advance the Digital Command Center analytics foundation.

Ideal candidates will have experience in aviation-related data, proficiency with Python/R/SQL, and a track record of delivering decision-support artifacts.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Operations Research, Information Systems, Analytics, or related technical discipline.
• MS/MA degree is a plus.
• 2+ years of experience in data analysis and decision-support.
• Experience analyzing complex structured or semi-structured datasets for decision-making.
• Proficiency with Python, R, SQL, and notebook/script development.
• Experience with exploratory data analysis, data cleaning, statistical analysis, trend analysis, forecasting, or predictive modeling.
• US Citizenship and ability to obtain FAA Public Trust clearance.
• Experience establishing metrics, KPIs, dashboards, and decision-support products.

Responsibilities

• Analyze workstream, requirements, IMS, schedule, risk, and program data to identify trends and insights.
• Define operational metrics, KPIs, thresholds, and analytics views for dashboards and analytics products.
• Assess data quality, completeness, and usability in enterprise data repositories.
• Collaborate with data architects and engineers to identify gaps and transformation needs.
• Support AI-enabled analytics workflows by defining trusted data inputs and validation criteria.
• Develop notebooks, scripts, SQL queries, analyses, and reusable artifacts for data exploration and decisions.
• Translate operational questions into structured analyses and measurable outputs.
• Communicate assumptions, limitations, findings, and implications to technical and mission stakeholders.
