FocusKPI is looking for a Data Scientist & Engineer (SAP) to work on our company’s internal projects.

Our internal team seeks a Data Scientist with a Data Engineering background and prior SAP skills. This role involves developing and optimizing data architectures that support business intelligence, predictive analytics, and AI/ML applications. Responsibilities include designing data pipelines connecting SAP, Databricks, and Microsoft CRM, enabling trend analysis, forecasting, and AI-driven insights. The focus is on building a feature store rather than traditional data models.

This role requires a deep understanding of data organization for efficient reporting, trend analysis, and analytics. Fluency in both English and Chinese is highly beneficial.

Work Location: Remote - anywhere in the US

Duration: 9+ months contract

Pay Range: $50+/hr (based on experience)

Responsibilities:
  1. Utilize machine learning and AI techniques (predictive models, NLP, personalization, uplift models) to solve complex problems and inform business decisions.
  2. Build data pipelines for model development, including data collection, cleaning, assumption testing, and feedback loop design.
  3. Collaborate in an agile environment with data scientists, engineers, and database admins to bring analytical rigor to predictive challenges.
  4. Support senior analysts and data scientists in managing strategic projects.
  5. Implement, validate, and maintain predictive and statistical models focusing on big data.
  6. Document model development processes and create presentations and financial models to communicate insights.
  7. Explain complex models simply and develop narratives linking results to business problems.
  8. Solve analytical problems and communicate methodologies and findings effectively.
  9. Develop dashboards for internal stakeholders to monitor KPIs.
  10. Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline data science solutions.
Qualifications:
  • PhD or Master’s in Computer Science, Statistics, or Data Science.
  • At least 4-5 years of experience in data science, ML modeling, measurement, marketing strategy, and analytics.
  • Proficiency in Python and libraries like Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn.
  • Strong SQL and relational database skills.
  • Experience with large datasets and NLP models.
  • Knowledge of MLOps tools like Airflow.
  • Deep understanding of ML/AI algorithms and evaluation.
  • Experience with SAP and CRM data; SAP experience is a plus.
  • Expertise in SAP data structures (SAP HANA, BW, OData, BAPI, IDocs).
  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (Apache Airflow, Prefect, Azure Data Factory).
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of data warehouses, cloud computing, ETLs, and data visualization dashboards.
  • Bilingual in Chinese and English is highly beneficial.
  • Proactive attitude, problem-solving skills, strong communication, and a growth mindset.
