Job summary

Job description

We are looking for an emerging Data Scientist or Engineer, with a passion for environmental science and a robust analytical skill set. This position will focus on using data to understand and influence areas such as environmental remediation and compliance. You’ll have opportunities for professional development and training. To be considered for this Hybrid role, you'll be based in the U.S., and we may even consider candidates based in Canada as well.

Keys for Success
  • Work with environmental domain experts to translate complex data into actionable insights for environmental restoration and compliance.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud infrastructure for environmental data processing.
  • Use skills in exploratory data analysis, environmental statistics, and machine learning to evaluate, predict, and report environmental impacts and outcomes.
  • Create dashboards and automated reports to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Develop and deploy models to analyze environmental data sets for trends, patterns, and insights.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Environmental Science, Biology, Geology, Engineering, or Geography.
  • Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in Data Science, Data Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong domain background in Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL.
  • Proven experience in data analysis and visualization techniques for environmental data.
  • Experience with interactive web application frameworks such as RShiny or Streamlit.
  • Experience with document authoring frameworks such as RMarkdown or Quarto.
  • Knowledge of spatial data analysis and GIS fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of database management principles.
  • Familiarity with development environments including Azure, Docker, and Linux.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Data Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Additional programming skills in C++, Java, SQL, Swift.
  • Previous experience in environmental projects.
  • Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence.

The base salary range for this position is $80,000.00 to $105,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
