Job summary

Federated IT in Washington, DC is seeking a Data Scientist to support national security programs with advanced data analytics, ML tool development, and mission-focused analytics. You will collaborate with cleared teams across DoD, IC, and federal agencies from a base in Washington, D.C.

Ideal candidates will have strong Python and R skills, experience in data mining, SQL, and data visualization with Tableau or Power BI, and the ability to work with SQL Server or PostgreSQL databases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience or 12 years in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years of experience with major data science languages, such as Python and R.
  • 3+ years of experience retrieving, merging, and analyzing structured and unstructured data sources from APIs and databases through Python, R, and/or SQL.
  • Experience with database design and administration in DBMS such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.
  • Experience with data analytics, data mining, statistical analysis, or AI/ML.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct data analytics, data engineering, data mining, exploratory and predictive analysis, and statistical analysis; produce narrative and visual reports.
  • Proactively retrieve information from various sources and build AI tools to automate processes.
  • Create ML-based tools or processes, such as recommendation engines or automated lead-scoring systems.
  • Perform statistical analysis, data mining, and build high-quality prediction systems.
  • Be skilled in data visualization and use of Power BI and Tableau; manage and merge disparate data sources via R, Python, or SQL.
  • Have prior experience with large data Multi-INT analytics, ML, and automated predictive analytics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct data analytics, data engineering, data mining, exploratory analysis, predictive analysis, and statistical analysis, and use scientific techniques to correlate data into graphical, written, visual and verbal narrative products, enabling more informed analytic decisions.
  • Proactively retrieve information from various sources, analyze it for better understanding of the data set, and build AI tools that automate certain processes.
  • Create various ML‑based tools or processes, such as recommendation engines or automated lead‑scoring systems.
  • Perform statistical analysis, apply data mining techniques, and build high‑quality prediction systems.
  • Be skilled in data visualization and use of graphical applications, including Microsoft Office (Power BI) and Tableau; major data science languages, such as R and Python; manage and merge disparate data sources, preferably through R, Python, or SQL; perform statistical analysis; and apply data mining algorithms.
  • Have prior experience with large data Multi‑INT analytics, ML, and automated predictive analytics.
Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting data architecture and ETL for the DoD or a federal agency.
  • Familiarity with HUMINT.
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools and technologies, including git, Jenkins, SonarQube, etc.
General Factors
  • Depending on project requirements, may be required to work within a compressed schedule; more than 40‑hour work weeks should be expected when schedules demand it.
  • Willing to travel, if needed.
  • No relocation.
  • Must be able to sit/stand at a desk for long periods and must be able to lift 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to multi‑task and rapidly change priorities with limited notice.
Clearance

TS/SCI with current CI Poly (adjudicated within the past 5 years or ability to pass a CI Poly).

Salary Range

120K - 135K
