Qualifications

  • Hands-on data science experience with analytics, AI, or related roles.
  • 2+ years of data science or analytics experience.
  • Strong Python and SQL proficiency.
  • Experience with Snowflake and dbt; knowledge of AWS services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop analytical solutions to identify unusual claim patterns and prioritize investigations.
  • Build and support models, analytics, and workflows using Python and SQL.
  • Perform EDA across diverse data sources to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Develop scalable solutions using AWS services (Bedrock, SageMaker, Lambda).
  • Design monitoring and evaluation processes for AI models.
  • Collaborate with teammates to share knowledge and promote best practices.

Mutual of Omaha is seeking a Data Scientist to help transform healthcare claims data into actionable business insights. This role is responsible for developing data-driven and AI-powered solutions that support fraud detection, improve operational efficiency, and drive business growth.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on data scientist with experience working with insurance data and strong technical skills in SQL, Python, Snowflake, and AWS. Success in this role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with both business and technical partners, and a team-oriented approach to solving complex problems. The successful candidate will also contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and innovation.

  • Estimated Salary: $100,000 - $140,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Develop analytical solutions that help business teams identify unusual claim patterns, prioritize investigations, and improve operational decision-making.
  • Build and support models, analytics, and workflows using Python and SQL.
  • Work with raw data and perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) across diverse data sources to identify trends, anomalies, and business opportunities.
  • Develop scalable solutions using AWS services such as Bedrock, SageMaker, and Lambda.
  • Design monitoring and evaluation processes for analytical and AI models.
  • Research, prototype, and implement agentic AI solutions.
  • Collaborate with teammates to share knowledge and promote best practices.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in data science or statistics.
  • 2+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related role.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Experience with Snowflake and working knowledge of dbt.
  • Experience developing or supporting AI-driven solutions, including LLM applications, conversational AI, or agent-based workflows.
  • Understanding of scalable, production-ready analytics and AI solutions.
  • You promote a collaborative culture, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.
  • Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.
PREFERRED:
  • Experience with healthcare claims, policy, provider, member, or actuarial data.
  • Experience with AWS Bedrock Agents and action group integration.
  • Knowledge of Sigma and Streamlit in Snowflake.
