Job summary

Teya is building a financial platform for local businesses, seeking a Data Scientist to leverage data science to improve business outcomes across multiple domains. You will work on model lifecycle from exploration to deployment, collaborating with cross-functional partners to deliver measurable value.

The role offers exposure to merchant churn, lead conversion, forecast of transaction volumes, price elasticity, and credit risk modelling within a fast-growing fintech environment.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on predictive modelling applied to real business problems (fintech preferred).
  • Strong Python and SQL skills with real-world datasets.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business problems into analytical tasks and models.
  • Develop, deploy and monitor predictive models across domains.

Your Mission

Were looking for a Data Scientist to work across the business at Teya, using data and models to

improve business outcomes. This is a broad role: you can expect to get involved in solving

business problems across many domains, applying your data science toolkit wherever it can

create the most value – whether thats understanding merchant churn, predicting lead

conversion, forecasting transaction volumes, estimating price elasticity, or modelling credit risk.

You will work on modelling initiatives across the full model lifecycle, from data exploration and

feature development through to model deployment and performance monitoring. You will use

your strong quantitative background to ensure models are developed in a statistically sound way. Collaborating with senior data scientists and stakeholders across Product, Commercial teams,

Finance, Engineering and Data Engineering, you will ensure models are well-understood and

deliver real business value.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who has hands-on predictive

modelling experience and wants to broaden their expertise across a wide range of business

domains within a fast-growing fintech.

Responsibilities
  • Problem solving: Support the translation of business problems into analytical and

  • Model deployment: Collaborate with Data Engineering and Engineering to assist the
  • Model monitoring: Help monitor model performance, investigate performance changes
  • Data exploration: Explore internal and external data sources, engineer features, and
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Engineering, Data Engineering and
Requirements
  • Hands-on experience of predictive modelling applied to real commercial problems,
  • ideally in a fintech / scale-up etc.
  • Degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or related
  • discipline
  • Strong applied quantitative skills, including use of machine learning techniques
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience working with real-world datasets
  • Ability to explain analytical work clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Curious, pragmatic, and commercially minded, with a desire to understand how models
