The Cargo Models team is responsible for building highly accurate cargo tracking models to provide live trade insights for the global maritime transport industry. Using a range of advanced Data Science techniques, you will help to develop algorithms that extend our comprehension of the global flow of commodities by devising forecasting models, predicting future trades, detecting anomalies in data and behaviour patterns of various market players. The team directly manages and ensures the quality of the data provided to clients, making us one of the key parts of Kpler.

Responsibilities
  • Working alongside data engineers, product managers and other data scientists, take responsibility for the design, experimentation, development, testing and deployment of data science models, based on project requirements and specifications.
  • Optimise and fine-tune models in production, overseeing the continuous monitoring of deployed models, and effectively handling model and data drift promptly.
  • Ensure optimal, cost-effective design decisions that improve performance and overcome scalability limits.
  • Research and identify methods, data sources, and features that will drive business impact and improve model accuracy.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and debugging skills with a proactive approach to learning.
Skills and Experiences
  • You have at least 2 years of experience in the DS role, deploying models into production;
  • You have proven experience delivering end-to-end ML solutions that produce business value.
  • You are proficient in Python.
  • You have worked with ML and geospatial libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, geopandas, scikit-image and transformers like XGBoost
  • You have experience developing and deploying models using MLOps platforms (Dataiku, Databricks, Sagemaker, etc.)
  • You have experience working with timeseries data.
  • You have demonstrable experience delivering end-to-end ML solutions that produce business value.
  • You are familiar with some software engineering best practices.
  • You are fluent in English.
Nice to have
  • You have worked with Dataiku.
  • You have experience with big data technologies, specifically Spark, Redshift or BigQuery.
  • You have knowledge of at least one cloud computing platform (preferably AWS).
  • You have expertise on applications focusing on geospatial data and mobility analytics (highly desirable).
  • You are familiar with the shipping industry and commodity trading.
  • You have experience working in an international environment.
