Job summary

Base-2 Solutions seeks a Data Scientist to support a long-term mission-focused big data and predictive analytics program based in Bethesda, MD. The role delivers advanced data science capabilities, analyzes results, and communicates findings to stakeholders.

You will collaborate with a hybrid team of analysts, engineers, and developers on scalable analytics platforms, using Python, Docker/Kubernetes, and Elastic Stack, with active TS/SCI clearance preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in quantitative/analytical field or Master’s with related experience.
• 4+ years in data science, analytics, or quantitative intelligence analysis; 2+ years if Master’s.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience deploying data science apps with Docker, Kubernetes, and/or OpenShift.
• Experience with Elastic Stack and/or SQL.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative software development practices.
• Experience working with hybrid teams to build analytics platforms.
• Demonstrated active learning and creative problem solving.

Position Summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Data Scientist to support a long-term mission-focused big data and predictive analytics program. The role involves delivering advanced data science capabilities to advance national security objectives, analyzing results, disseminating findings, and contributing to actionable intelligence insights. The position requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and offers a flexible schedule with a hybrid work model based in Bethesda, MD.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work closely with a team of data scientists, software developers, network engineers, senior investigators, program managers, researchers, and data analysts to design, build, and optimize a Search and Discovery platform.
• Conduct research tasks to recommend optimal approaches to index and organize data for discovery and create reusable agents and tools.
• Support multiple simultaneous projects, independently and collaboratively make mission-relevant discoveries, and communicate findings to non-technical audiences.
• Identify novel data sources to improve predictive algorithms and encourage user adoption of data analytics platforms.
• Leverage expertise in research design, exploratory analysis, quantitative methods, user interface application design, and customer engagement.
• Collaborate with a hybrid team of analysts, engineers, and developers to build and deploy complex algorithms and analytical platforms.
• Engage in co-development and cooperative research to leverage and reuse team products.

Required Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in a quantitative or analytical field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, or Computational Social Science; or Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree including certificate-based advanced training courses.
• 4+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or quantitative intelligence analysis, with 2+ years required if holding a Master's degree.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience deploying data science applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and/or OpenShift.
• Experience with information retrieval and search technologies such as Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch and Kibana) and/or SQL.
• Familiarity with Git and cooperative software development practices.
• Experience working with hybrid teams to conduct research and build analytical platforms.
• Demonstrated active learning and creative problem solving.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting military or intelligence community customers with progressive technical development and mission-focused outcomes.
• Experience constructing and performing evaluations of analytics including test data construction, test execution, and metrics.
• Experience with Agentic software solutions such as Agno, CrewAI, Pydantic AI, or LangGraph.
• Experience working in on-prem, air-gapped environments and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS/C2S).

Required Education and Experience Equivalency

• B.S. Degree in a quantitative or analytical field with 4+ years of experience.
• Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree including certificate-based advanced training courses with 2+ years of experience.
