Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Data Scientist to join the Data Solutions and Model team, working on ML models that support fraud/risk, merchant acceptance, and monitoring across billions of customer records. You will collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to deliver data-driven products that customers love.

The ideal candidate will have 1+ year of ML experience, strong SQL skills, and hands-on experience with open-source languages and cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related) plus 6 years of data analytics experience.
• Master's degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related) or MBA with a quantitative concentration plus 4 years of data analytics experience.
• PhD in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related) plus 1 year of data analytics experience.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver a product customers love.
• Leverage a broad stack of technologies — Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and more — to reveal insights from large data volumes.
• Build machine learning models through all development phases from design to deployment.
• Translate complex work into tangible business goals and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
