Job summary

Caris Life Sciences seeks a data science manager to lead a team of data scientists, guiding analytical planning from concept through validated delivery. You’ll translate complex biomedical questions into actionable projects and ensure rigor and reproducibility.

Collaborating across Engineering, Product, and Commercial teams, you will mentor colleagues, shape project priorities, and communicate methods and results clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• PhD in data science, statistics, biostatistics, CS, computational biology, bioinformatics, or related field.
• 5+ years leading biomedical data science projects.
• Advanced Python and working SQL proficiency.
• Strong foundation in statistical modeling, ML, visualization, and interpretation.
• Experience analyzing large biomedical datasets (genomic, proteomic, clinical, multimodal).
• Ability to mentor data scientists and ensure quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor an assigned team of data scientists.
• Own data science projects from planning to delivery.
• Develop project plans with timelines and success criteria.
• Translate scientific, clinical, product, and commercial questions into analytical approaches.
• Apply standards for reproducibility, validation, documentation, and code quality.
• Review analytical methods, code, validation results, and model artifacts.
• Coordinate cross-functional work with Engineering, Product, Commercial, and more.
• Identify priority or resource conflicts and escalate when needed.
• Communicate methods, progress, and results to stakeholders.
• Evaluate advances in data science and ML for project use.
• Improve delivery practices for quality and throughput.
