Job summary

CLA is seeking a Data Science Director to lead the Internal IT data science team. The role combines data wrangling, visualization, and advanced modeling in R or Python, with strong emphasis on scalable, production-ready solutions.

You will oversee AI initiatives, model validation, and cross‑functional collaboration to deliver business insights. You will mentor analysts, drive workload planning, and ensure high‑quality standards while expanding capabilities and contributing to new business

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant experience required.
• Experience with APIs, web scraping, SQL/no-SQL databases, and cloud-based data solutions required.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Bachelor's degree is required; Masters in a Data Science/Analytics/AI field is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day leadership, coaching, development, and performance management.
• Mentor and guide analysts, supporting onboarding, skill development, and continuous learning across career stages.
• Lead large scale analytical and AI initiatives, including data acquisition, transformation, modeling, and insight generation.
• Guide development and application of advanced statistical, ML, and AI-driven solutions, including predictive models and LLMs.
• Establish and evolve best practices, documentation standards, and governance across the team.
• Partner with engineering, IT, and data platform teams to enable scalable, well governed solutions.
