Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is offering a Data Science Internship in Portland, OR. Interns will work with enterprise data from vehicle and IoT sources, using Python and SQL to analyze data, build models, and develop AI-assisted solutions.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s program or higher or have graduated within 1 year of start date (May/June).
• Pursuing a degree in Data Science, CS, Statistics, Math, Engineering, Economics, or other quantitative field.
• Programming experience with Python, SQL, or another language.
• Understanding of fundamental data visualization and communicating with charts.

Responsibilities

• Translate business questions into data science and analytical problems.
• Explore, clean, transform, and analyze structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
• Use Python, SQL, or other languages to perform analysis and develop solutions.
• Apply statistics and math to understand patterns and anomalies in data.
• Develop visualizations to communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Design analyses and experiments to answer business questions or test hypotheses.
• Help develop predictive models and AI techniques where appropriate.
• Assess data quality and limitations affecting conclusions.
• Develop rapid prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions.
• Use integrated AI tools to assist coding, data exploration, and problem solving, while validating results.
• Communicate methodology, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Work in an Agile team and collaborate with data scientists, engineers, product teams, and stakeholders.
